For people who use Microsoft XP, Mac OS X, or Windows Vista, and are having a problem with their McAfee antivirus software, then you know just how difficult it can be to temporarily disable McAfee antivirus. There seems to be just too many settings and options within the McAfee anti-virus software that just aren’t clearly explained. But unfortunately, if you have this issue, then you are going to need to be able to learn how to disable McAfee.
Fortunately, with just a few simple steps, you can disable McAfee antivirus for good!
- The first thing to try to temporarily disable McAfee is to go into the “Change” section of your preferences. Clicking the “Internet Options” icon will open this dialog box. Here, you will see the various web browsers that are available for your computer. If you have Firefox, you will see a Firefox button with an address link at the bottom of it. Clicking on this button will bring up the browser’s configuration manager. To access the Internet Options main page, simply click the appropriate Firefox button.
- When you first start up the Internet, the default page you see will be the homepage of your computer. If you have Firefox, you will see a Firefox icon in this section as well. Notice the close icon in the lower left-hand corner of the screen? This is your fire button – and this is what will tell your computer to run a different browser. You can also temporarily disable McAfee antivirus by hitting this button to bring up the Mozilla toolbars and about page.
- From here, all you need to do is click the “manage” tab for McAfee antivirus and choose the option to temporarily disable MAF version 10. In the left-hand navigation panel, click the “Extensions” tab. The right-click feature will bring up the dialog box for finding the extensions you want to disable.
These extensions will tell the browser to use the Microsoft Internet Security Services Provider (ISSP) instead of McAfee or the Webroot antivirus program. Since the Webroot antivirus is not installed on your computer, you will have to find the appropriate webroot tools and disable air as well. To do this, hit the “manage” tab again and then click “uninstall” and then hit “OK”. When you do this, you should be able to uninstall the two programs.
While the Webroot tool can provide excellent malware detection, it also provides cookie tracking and web history harvesting. These are features which are not useful for your anti-virus software as they are used by spyware programs to collect information about you and your PC. This is why you should temporarily disable the Webroot antivirus application to avoid these problems.
Since air is also an outstanding web browser, it can often lead to similar problems as the McAfee browser. For example, it can install a bundled adware application that can hide itself on your system. It can also constantly update itself and try to scare you into buying a bogus upgrade for McAfee Antivirus, allowing hackers to steal your personal information. To completely remove air from your computer, you will need to disable the browser as well, and then use a webroot removal tool such as “XoftSpySE”. These anti-spyware programs are equipped with the same scanning engine, which will identify all elements of the XoftSpySE engine and remove them, completely erasing any trace of the XoftSpySE application.
As XoftSpySE is able to perform a completely deep scan on your computer, it will identify all elements of the McAfee antivirus program and remove them, allowing your computer to run much smoother and with a lot fewer errors. When you want to disable Avast Antivirus temporarily, you should use a webroot removal tool like XoftSpySE. This will permanently disable the McAfee application and make your computer run without any traces of the program. By using this tool, you will be able to keep your computer clean and error-free.
