University of Phoenix has always pushed for more for its students. It’s why the University has aligned with Joliet Junior College (JCC), the first public community college in America, to offer a more affordable path to education. See how it’s easier than ever to transfer credits on the path to a four-year degree.
The Arrangement
Students can attend JCC for up to three years before transferring to University of Phoenix for the last year or their bachelor’s degree. This applies to all JCC campus locations as well as online and in-person study at the University. Students can transfer up to 87 credits from JCC before completing the remaining 33 credits at University of Phoenix.
In addition, the University will waive all tuition and most fees for the first course, and provide an associate degree transfer tuition rate for the remaining courses. This discounted rate saves students $144 per course. Students take one course at a time for five-week increments and new courses starting every month. With the general course requirements fulfilled, the transition from JCC to University of Phoenix is designed to be as seamless as possible.
JCC offers a variety of degree tracks for students, and the University will accept transfers for bachelor’s degrees in business, health management, information technology and nursing. Students with these degrees can be well-positioned in terms of earning potential. Both higher education providers help their graduates hone the skills they need to get a head-start as soon as they have their degree in hand.
Similar Missions
The two educational institutions have a shared focus for their students. Both want students from every walk of life to have the same chance as anyone else. The alliance is a transfer-friendly way to take classes at a lower price and then count those credits toward a degree at University of Phoenix.
John Woods, University of Phoenix Provost, said, “Joliet Junior College is recognized as the nation’s first community college, and we are honored to be working with them as they continue to fulfill their promise of offering an affordable, quality education.” Saving money is a key goal for many students as they look for every way to maximize the value of every dollar spent on their education. Eligible students can take 11 classes in just 14 months to receive their degree.
JCC Manager of Adult Pathways and University Partnerships Jeanette Konieczka was equally thrilled with the terms. “Joliet Junior College’s alliance with University of Phoenix will provide students a smooth transition from an associate to a bachelor’s degree in high demand fields looking for skilled talent.” JCC has become a stronghold in education in the country, and both schools have always put student success far above profits. Both Joliet Junior College and University of Phoenix have a long history of leading and innovating in the education space.
